Description:
|
The oompah sounds of old world Polkas and waltzes will be featured at the Dalton Community Historical Society's annual Strawberry Festival on June 12, 2010.
The Al Zimmerman Combo, well-known for performing bouncy, upbeat polka sounds and World War II standards throughout northeast Ohio, will entertain the crowd with lively favorites. Musicians within the group have been playing for fifty years, and the instruments to be played may include button-box accordion, piano accordion, trumpet, banjo, guitar and drums.
The menu for the Strawberry Festival includes sloppy joe sandwiches, coneys, hot dogs, beverages, and fresh-picked locally-grown strawberries with cake and ice cream. Serving is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dalton Community Park on South Mill Street, Dalton.
Visitors are encouraged to come hungry and after enjoying the mouth-watering berries, get up and dance to the 2/4 rhythm, characterized by three quick steps and a hop. It's a great way to spend a summer evening with friends. Funds raised will be used to help maintain our buildings and treasures.
