Equine Open House -Liability

 EQUINE LIABILIY AND LEGAL ISSUES PROGRAM

The Wayne Soil & Water Conservation District is hosting another educational event for horse owners & enthusiasts. This will be the 5^th year that they have hosted a free evening event focusing on horse owner issues. The 2010 program is lead by experts in the field of equine insurance and legal issues.  The FREE program, sponsored by Nagy’s Collision Specialists, will be Tuesday, March 9^th from 6:30pm – 9:00pm at the Wayne County fairgrounds in Wooster held at the Armstrong Building.

This year the topics include Liability and Legal Issues in the equine world. Due to this touchy topic, Wayne SWCD was able to acquire some experts in the field, to yield potential questions and to enlighten participants with their professional knowledge. The Wayne SWCD is very delighted to have Mr. Larry Habrun with Habrun Insurance Service and Mr. Sam Steimel of Steimel Law Office as the two featured speakers. The evening program will be covering a variety of interesting topics, including "What is liability insurance?" And "do I really need it?", "The Ohio Equine Liability Act", "Legal contract and waivers" and "When does the law not protect me?"  Anyone that is involved with horses or just likes horses should want to hear this lecture. Become informed about the Ohio Revised Code 2305.321, it applies to so many horse enthusiasts!  They  will also cover examples of equine court cases, from a guest walking through a horse barn that got bit by a horse, to a boy that got hurt at summer camp when his pony spooked from thunder! In addition, there will be a lot of free educational handouts and information available. Representatives of the Ohio Horseman’s Council will be there to discuss their membership benefits and coverage. The Holmes Co. Chapter will also be selling the metal Equine Liability signs for $10 at the meeting. Join other horse owners on March 9th as they learn about these important topics. The Wayne SWCD welcomes new faces, and they hope to answer any of your questions.
