Fresh Herbs with Connie Winkler
With all of the Fresh Herbs that are vigourously growing and ready to use in your recipes, some folks may be wondering exactly what to do with their well-kept crops. Connie Winkler, original founding member of the Wayne County Herb Society, knows just about everything there is to know about herbs. Which ones taste good when paired together? Which ones pair nicely with different ingredients? If you have a Fresh Herb question, Connie will help you sort it out. She even concocts beverages with Fresh Herbs! In this class, Connie will have 10 different potted herbs to see, feel, taste, and smell. The herbs being covered are: Basil, Oregano, Cilantro, Rosemary, Marjoram, Dill, Thyme, Parsley, Chives, and Spearmint. Connie will also have on hand a booklet she has put together covering growing herbs, harvesting herbs, their history and what herbs pair well with different veggies, meats etc... which will be for sale after class. And, being the herb connoisseur, she will also tend to all of your questions regarding any "green thumb" faux pas!
This class is being held twice in the TKS Demonstration Kitchen: on
Tuesday, June 5th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm and again on
Wednesday, June 20 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. This class is a
demonstration style class where each student will get to see, smell, touch, and taste 10 Fresh Herbs and learn recipes to use them in. The price of the class is
$25 plus tax per person and the menu being planned is:
