Mardi Gras is not only a New Orleans tradition, but nations all over the world also celebrate the occasion. In Germany, "Fastnacht" can almost be considered a 5th season beginning on 11/11 and ending on Ash Wednesday. Like Mardi Gras, there are processions with people in colorful costumes, people tossing candy from floats, and don’t forget all of the delicious food and exciting celebrations! Sofie Dittmann, who was born and raised in Germany will show us exactly how they celebrate the season demonstrating traditional Deutch carnival treats. Showing how to make two very different snacks from the same dough, she will demonstrate one recipe while the students get the experience of rolling out pretzels, brushing them with egg wash, and topping with sugar. Because this is a hands-on class, seating will be limited so hurry up and register! It’s never too early to start thinking about decadent German carnival treats!
This class is being held on Saturday, February 18 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am in the TKS Demonstration Kitchen. This class is a demonstration + hands-on style class where Sofie will demonstrate one recipe while the students make the other.
