The Iditarod® Experience
Tom Roig, Instructor
Alaska’s Iditarod Trail Dog Sled Race® has been labeled
"the last great race on earth." Dog mushers from all walks
of life and from all over the world compete to fi nish this
grueling 1,150-mile race from Anchorage to Nome that
pits man and his dogs against Mother Nature’s below zero
temperatures and rough terrain.
Tom Roig of Valley Road Outfi tters in Shreve participated
in this prestigious race in 2007 and 2008. He
has been mushing for over 15 years and has logged over
16,000 miles behind his dogs. Tom will present an educational
program on his Iditarod experience, including videos
and stories of his adventures. You will meet a few of his
dogs and see some of his racing equipment.
