All Smithville Community Historical Society Buildings will be open September 26 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. Volunteers
will be available to talk with visitors and/or be working at their respective tasks and willing to explain what they are
doing.
Buildings in the Pioneer Village include the Pioneer Log Cabin, the Sheller Log House, the new Tin Shop, the
Village Blacksmith Shop, the Carriage Barn with the Village Pottery, and the LyDo Barn containing agricultural
equipment and tools. These buildings are on Eberly Drive near the Smithville Post Office. The Historic Church
of God is part of the Village. Entrance to the church is at 147 North Milton Street.
The Mishler Weaving Mill and the Reception Center are at 381 East Main Street. Volunteers will be working in the
Mishler Mill. Antique mechanical weaving looms are used to make dish cloths, placemats, and table runners.
Hand looms are used to make rag rugs, rag placemats, and dish towels. Visitors can watch things being made
and talk with the volunteers. Items made are sold in the Gift Shop which is part of the Mishler Mill. The Reception
Center has the Mishler Memorial Room, the Heritage Educational Room, and the Photography Room.
There are interesting displays in the showcases in the main room.
Handicap accessible buildings are the Mishler Weaving Mill, the Reception Center, the Tin Shop, the Village
Blacksmith Shop, the Village Pottery, the LyDo Barn, and The Historic Church of God.
