Walk for Wellness
A one- or two-mile walk to raise funds for local mental health programs, sponsored by the Wayne Holmes Mental Health Coalition.
Are you lucky enough to go through every day without feeling depressed, confused, agitated or alone?
One in five of us will experience these symptoms at some point in our lifetime, due to a mental health issue.
Join us for this fundraiser on Sat., May 19, 2012 at MOCA House, 637 College Ave., Wooster. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the Walk for Wellness begins at 9:00 a.m. Refreshments will be provided.
Here's how you can get involved:
* Join us! - Call 330-264-1590 for a brochure, line up your sponsors and join us on our Walk for Wellness.
* Form a team! - Join with family, friends and co-workers to raise money through pledges or have your own creative fundraisers. Your team will enjoy the cameraderie of participating in our Walk.
* Donate! - Consider a tax-deductible gift to the Wayne Holmes Mental Health Coalition. Your donation will provide needed assistance for peer-to-peer recovery.
The non-profit Wayne Holmes Mental Health Coalition is the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). We provide peer-to-peer support for individuals dealing with mental illness at MOCA House, our drop-in recovery facility. We also offer free NAMI educational programs and support groups for family members. Our Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training for local law enforcement provides training on how to safely de-escalate a situation when someone is in a mental health crisis. We also offer Amish-led support groups and NAMI programs. The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Wayne & Holmes Counties is under our umbrella of services, and we provide a facilitated support group for people affected by a loved one’s suicide (PALS).
