Bending to the Color Line

Sunday, October 25 - 2:00 PM

Carol Lasser, emerita professor of history at Oberlin College, presents "Bending to the Color Line: The Fight for Women's Suffrage in Ohio," a look at how race, region, and special interests shaped alliances and access to the vote in Ohio in the final years of the suffrage struggle.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, giving women the right to vote. The Wayne County Historical Society, Wayne County Public Library, and the League of Women Voters of Wayne County have joined forces to celebrate with a series of events and speakers from March through October.
