For someone who has lost a loved one, facing the busy Christmas season filled with celebration can be hard.
The Blue Christmas Service offers a quiet, more meditative worship for those carrying pain or loss at this time of year. Shreve United Methodist Church will host this type of service at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16. Those who attend will have the opportunity to reflect and grieve in a quiet, gentle atmosphere.
The church is hosting the service as part of its GriefShare program as a way to reach out to people who have experienced loss and are facing difficult circumstances during the holiday. Often those grieving get lost in seasonal celebrations.
The Blue Service offers a message of God’s love with a time of reflection and an invitation to light a candle in memory of a loved one or in recognition of other losses.
