Trinity UMC 60th Anniversary Celebration

Sunday, June 2 - 12:00 PM

Celebrating 60 Years – The Church on Rex Drive
In 1977 the history of the Orrville Methodist Church was documented by Ned Hostetler, grandson of Chauncy and Winna Smucker Hostetler who gave the property to the church, and son of Gordon and Phoebe Hostetler. His extensive research includes details about the “new church on the hill” which tell us that the new plans were accepted by the congregation on January 10, 1962.  A groundbreaking service was held on March 10, 1963, and the first service was held on June 7, 1964.
On Sunday June 2nd at 2:00 pm we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of this church which is open to the public. Inspirational ideas are being shared and plans are coming together. Music, messages and refreshments will be included in this special occasion.  If you would like to be involved, please contact Ministry Support Team Chair Susan Tucker or Ministry Support Team Secretary Jenni Reusser.
We are extremely pleased to share that we have confirmed these special guests:  Bonnie Bailey Cummings and her husband Don and her brother John.  Bonnie and John are the daughter and son of Rev. Paul Bailey who was pastor here in 1964 when the church was dedicated.  Many of you will also remember his wife, Dorothy.
Also planning to attend is Jane Hostetler Sheard, granddaughter of Chauncy and Winna Smucker Hostetler and daughter of Gordon and Phoebe Hostetler.  We will also be blessed with the presence of Dr. Cara Stultz Costello, our District Superintendent.  Cara is the daughter of Buck and Valerie Stultz, who served here as Pastor from 1992-1996.
